The breakfast was superb, fresh fruit and pastries and the coffee wonderful. Fresh orange juice from the trees. Sue showed us around her beautiful property including the well and identified places for us to visit. We have had such a quiet, relaxed and very comfortable few days at the cottage in the lake. Casa do Loureiro is offering accommodation in Arganil. There is a private entrance at the chalet for the convenience of those who stay. Each room is fitted with a patio with mountain views and free WiFi. Adelina was wonderful! We arrived at the tiny but beautiful village on a cold and rainy day. After snuggling in and heating our little house, Adelina came by and offered to make us supper. She made us a great supper and we enjoyed every minute of her and her husband's company. We used Google translate to our good advantage. Enjoyed the supper she made in the local community building and watched some football with the locals. We were supposed to spend the next night in nearby Piodao but scrapped that for an extra night in Porto due to the cold weather. We did visit Piodao and found it to be overly commercial where as Arganil really seemed like the real deal.

Every effort has been made to retain the original design while ensuring all modern facilities are included (dishwasher, good internet etc). The bed was very comfortable and the area is so peaceful so sleep was no problem. The kitchen is very well appointed to allow you to cook if you want to. Restaurant options are limited outside of weekends so best to be prepared with food just in case. There is a lovely deck to sit on for meals and drinks. The views are postcard perfect.

The house is situated a walking distance from a river beach and from some other beautiful natural spots in half an hour driving distance. Rosa, the host, was very gentle and attentive, replying quickly to our contacts. A wonderful stay, we will return!

The chalé are amazing, confortable and provide everything thats my family needs to enjoy the stay at this wornderful place that are the Serra da Estrela. The host are very polite and prestative, making us feeling at home.
