Kinigi
Located in Kinigi, Kinigi Cottage offers accommodation with a hot tub, a hammam and spa facilities. The accommodation features a spa bath and a sauna. There is free private parking and the property provides paid airport shuttle service. Kinigi Cottage is a hidden gem among the overpriced lodges of the area. We stayed in the second floor room with the huge balcony, and we had amazing views of the volcanoes nearby. The property is walking distance from the Dian Fossey museum and central to all activities in the region. Our kids had a great time playing in the beautiful gardens all around the building, and the indoor and outdoor fires added a great touch of character to our evening. We had a wonderful dinner (extra cost) and an even better breakfast with a full spread of goodies (included). I will not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone staying in the region. Perfect.

Sambora Kinigi is a gem.
We were welcomed to the Sambora Lodge by an unbelievably warm and helpful staff who attended to our every need. Our cottage was perfect, with a roaring fire to welcome us after a delicious meal prepared by a talented chef who uses local, fresh ingredients to make wholesome gourmet meals accompanied by a selection of fine wines.
The planned activities from which to choose are world class – top of the list is Gorilla trekking, which was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We had the opportunity to canoe on pristine lakes, visit community groups working with artisans and really experience life in Rwanda’s northern region. The Diane Fossey Campus is literally right around the corner and well worth the visit.
We were made to feel at home in this top-notch facility, with our every need catered to – massages in room, fresh local flowers from the luscious gardens, and the best turn-down service ever. But truly the Sambora family made the stay extra special for us.

Just about everything. Joaquin the owner is great, both dedicated and knowledgeable he makes an excellent host who makes one feel at home. The location is a tropical paradise while the food was delicious both at breakfast and dinner. Our room was unforgettable.
Perfect location, surrounded by magical vulcanoes and in a lush garden. Once you enter the house, you feel being at home at friends because everyone is welcoming and caring. It is not only easy to interact with the owner and the staff but also with other guests over dinner which allows you to meet interesting people. The room was perfect, huge, nicely decorated and with a large veranda with view on Sabinyo.
Excellent accommodation, and was kept very clean. The staff were all very friendly and super helpful. They really know how to look after their guests with the extra touches such as cleaning our boots and car - this was greatly appreciated. Breakfast was also good. I will definitely return to stay here next time I'm in the area!
Beautiful lodge, cozy sitting room and fantastic food. Great location close to the national park. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Wonderful staff and facilities. Dinner was excellent! Would absolutely recommend and would come back! Quiet, quaint location. Private. Great outdoor space to spend time.
We had mixed feelings about our stay here. The staff are a real credit to Michael the owner. They work hard, we’re very hospitable. The chef produced some lovely vegetarian evening meals. Simple but wholesome. We thank the staff for making our stay so wonderful. The location is incredible just below the volcano with superb views. This also made our stay memorable!
Clean, very kind staff and perfect location for the visits to the park
Food is very good. Planting alongside rooms is beautiful. Rooms are separate villas and are huge. with excellent bathrooms, also huge. Staff are extremely helpful. Good location near to national park. Quiet. Spa will be a great addition when it opens.
The home-cooked food was incredible and really appreciated after a hard hike. The location was perfect for hiking in the Volcanoes National Park. We had extra help with taking care of our muddy clothes too.
