Our first stop in Sumatra was at Lilly's Guesthouse, where we were very warmly welcomed by her and her husband Ishako. From the first moment we felt welcome and completely at home. We booked a two-day jungle trek. Our adventure began on the second day after our arrival, together with our guide Iman and a French couple, Carolane and Romain. There was immediately a nice click, and so we trekked into the jungle together. Blood, sweat, but no tears - what an experience! Without Iman, the trek would definitely not have been the same. What a top guy! After two days of trekking and a night's sleep in the middle of the jungle, we arrived safely back at the guesthouse. How happy we were to finally shower again and sleep in a comfortable bed! As icing on the cake, we also enjoyed a wonderful massage - how good that felt! After that we wanted to travel on to Lake Toba, and coincidentally that was also Lilly's plan with her family. Transportation was completely arranged by them, and together we traveled to our next destination. Along the way, we had lunch together, took the same ferry and once again shared beautiful, enjoyable moments. In Tuktuk our paths parted, as we had each booked our own guesthouse, but we met up a few more times. Each time it was a warm reunion! What we really want to say: we felt like one of them. Bylo to nejlepší ubytování, jaké jsme měli na naší cestě po Malajsii a Indonésii. Tyson a jeho rodina byli skvělí. Tysonova teta nám vařila úžasná domácí jídla. SeaGate Bungalows se nachází v destinaci Sabang a nabízí zahradu, soukromou pláž, terasu a bezplatné Wi-Fi ve všech prostorách. Na místě budete mít k dispozici termální koupel a pronájem auta. Best place we’ve ever stayed, cannot recommend it highly enough! The beach 5 meters from the room has some of the best snorkeling we have ever tried. We even saw a sea turtle. Borja is extremely attentive and helpful, and will try to help you regardless of what you need. We stayed in both a deluxe room and later a bungalow. Both are amazing but the bungalow has a bit more privacy. It takes roughly 15 minutes by scooter to get to Gapang Beach where there are diving and freediving schools.

It's just great to arrive here after a long flight. A very, very helpful staff will help you with all your questions. After leaving my card in the ATM, they took me to the city, waited for over an hour with me, then took me to another bank. I took up the entire morning of two people and their car due to my stupidity and just a tip was sufficient. It just feels so good to be helped like that. You just don't get that where I'm from. A clean and calm place to escape the busyness of Medan and I can recommend Bua to be your starting and exit point to beautiful Sumatra.

Sarah was very communicative during the booking process too. Eli the chef is really talented, we wished we could have eaten more there!

Kupu Kupu Garden Guest House & Cafe se nachází u moře v destinaci Bukit Lawang a poskytuje zahradu a terasu. Na místě vám mohou zařídit dopravu na letiště. We had the most amazing time at Kupu Kupu. The guesthouse is so beautiful, the rooms are very clean and well-designed and the food is incredible. With the jungle at the doorstep, we really enjoyed sitting on the balcony and watch the monkeys play in the trees - it felt like we were in paradise! After two nights at the guesthouse, we did a 3 day / 2 night jungle trek our guides Wanda and Juli, which was an incredible experience. Wanda has so much knowledge about the jungle and all the living beings in it - he had a story to tell about any animal or plant we found, we enjoyed our talks with him so much! Both guides took very good care of us and always made us feel safe and well! After rafting (fun!!!) back to Kupu Kupu on the last day of our trek, we stayed at the guesthouse for one more night to relax and process our experience 🌿 Special thanks to Arif for organising everything for us (helping us with the itinerary from the airport and onwards to our next destination, picking us up from the town and organising the jungle trek) and to Risky for making us feel right at home 🙏

I stayed for 3 weeks at Batu Kapal and would recommend to others that they not just stay for a day before and/or after a jungle trek but enjoy this peaceful and beautiful location for multiple days. The primates (several monkey species and orangutans), butterflies, lizards and birds around the property provide frequent interest. When their isn't great wildlife in your view, the beautiful scenery will make you happy to be there.
