We explored downtown . Expensive city. Arty city. Needle & glass gardens really excellent 👌. Needle situated in large park. So much to see & do. Visited Pikes fish market which was great fun. We walked mostly…fairly easy to navigate. Occasional use of Uber. Breakfast at Lola’s /dinner at Matra &!Thai restaurant. Later excellent food & slightly less expensive. Price of dinner +state & city taxes + 20% tip! Q
We were there for the World Science Fiction Convention from Wed. through Sun. We went sightseeing Mon. and went up the Space Needle and to the Chihuly Museum. Both were fantastic. At some great food--expensive (to me, I live in a small town in PA) and a lot of diversity. Everyone was nice.
There are some major highlights in Seattle such as the Space Needle and MoPop museum. If you want to see it all there are discounted tickets worth buying. I enjoyed walking around the streets and feeling the local vibe. Around Seattle are great nature destinations for day trips or longer.
First time visitors and we bought the City Pass. It included the Space Needle, Aquarium, Chihuly Glass Garden, MOPOP & a Aragosy Harbor Cruise. Additionally, we also saw a concert at the Paramount Theater, went on a Seattle Eats Food Tour with a chef, a Seattle Sounders MLS game and hung out at the Central Saloon (where many grunge acts played back in the day). The Pike Place Market was a block from our hotel. I also want to give a BIG shout out to Monorail Espresso, which made my mornings amazing with their 16oz latte with almond milk!
Public transit was easy to use. We used the Light Rail several times, which saved money, and we used Lyft often which was pricier but extremely quick. It's good to be in shape and expect to do a lot of walking. We got out of town for one of the days and did some hiking, which I always recommend if you are able. Many trailheads abound. If you are vegan, you absolutely MUST eat at Life on Mars, and get a delicious cinnamon bun from Cinnaholic to eat on the plane as you depart. If you like to read, check out Elliot Bay bookstore. Historic; old; vast array of books of all kinds. Also, head up to Mox Boarding House in Ballard for a game cafe experience you won't regret. So much fun!!!
Seattle is SO so expensive. EG £150 halibut supper for 2 with 4 glasses of wine.Or breakfast ( pancakes & sausage for husband & yoghurt w fruit for me ) £50.00. Stats & city taxes payable on meals plus minimum compulsory 20% tip. We waked a lot & took Ubers. We enjoyed Pikes place fish market. Good fun. Lots of wonderful glass art & art generally. Visible problem with the dispossessed much in evidence. Lots more to see & do but we can’t afford to return.!!
