This is a truly fabulous place, completely dark and quiet, and we were incredibly privileged to see the northern lights for three September nights on the trot, getting brighter each night. The cabin is well-equipped, and we very much enjoyed our stay. We did not use the BBQ or outdoor heaters but they were there if we had wished to use them. We went whale watching, and GeoSea (hubby not sure if he fancied it, but we went when it opened and it was lovely and quiet. Very nice spa as it is sea water and so does not smell like sulphur... in case the smell bothers you. Hubby agreed afterwards that it was a highlight of our holiday).

Boasting a sauna, Dimond cottage is situated in Laxamýri. This property offers access to a balcony, free private parking and free WiFi. This was an oasis in Iceland for us. The perfect cottage / house. In a quiet area <10min outside Husavik. Excellent location for any northern Iceland trip. Close enough to get an early start to go whale watching in Husavik (an absolute "must" activity in the north), and close enough to town as an end of day stop with a nearby grocery store. Amenities were perfect. Clean and very well kept. Seems new. With personal touches, making this likely a weekend family home that is in use. We loved the coffee machine. Fresh bean to cup at a touch of a button, without the crazy Iceland prices. We had a "braai" (BBQ) both nights we were there outside on the gas BBQ facility. There is also an option of a fire place. The beds were comfortable with down duvets. There is a doll house for younger kids. And a quiet porch with a sunset view for adults. There is an amazing small lake with many bird species halfway between the location and Husavik. A must stop for birders. It is <10min outside town, but this was a bonus for us. Peace and quiet, and away from the crowds. With open space around us. And, one very likely has a car when travelling to this area.

Laxhús is situated in Laxamýri, 85 km from Akureyri. Free private parking is available on site. Husavik is 8 km away. All units feature a flat-screen TV. Some units have a seating area and/or terrace.... Absolutely loved this place! Our favourite stay in Iceland! - clear views of the mountains and sheep and horses roaming free in front of the property. Clear check in instructions sent ahead of time. Lovely room and decor. Clean, spacious and homely. Loved the addition of blankets for nothern lights watching! Coffee machine (and pods), mini dishwasher, microwave, fridge (with yoghurts) and basic kitchen equipment, enough to prepare a small meal.

Boasting mountain views, Vetursetur is set in Laxamýri, around 15 km from Husavik Golf Club. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. Easy to find. Nice summerhouse.

Featuring free WiFi and a barbecue, Skógar Sunset Guesthouse offers accommodation 13 km from Húsavík. Each self-catering studio features a kitchen with a stove top, microwave and fridge. The best view I have ever had. The kitchen was very well equipped, as well as the bathroom and so clean! It was so peaceful, so quiet, just what we needed.

Set in Húsavík, within 42 km of Godafoss Waterfall and 4.4 km of Husavik Golf Club, Saltvík Farm Guesthouse offers accommodation with a terrace as well as free private parking for guests who drive. It’s quaint right outside of town. We were there in October and drove through a blizzard (literally) and got there a little late so we didn’t see anyone but a cute little sticky with a room key with our name. The shared kitchen had everything needed to cook a nice meal from the grocery store just 1/2 mile away. We had room 4 which had a great picture window where we did see northern lights. Now it is a converted cow shed so not a typical hotel so go with mindset of a unique Iceland experience.

Set in Húsavík in the North Iceland region and Godafoss Waterfall reachable within 45 km, Kaldbaks-kot cottages offers accommodation with free WiFi, a children's playground, water sports facilities... I loved the fact that it felt like you were in the middle of nowhere - even though it was a 2 min drive to the city. Both my partner and I also loved the genereal feeling of being cozy in the cottage.
