Rhosneigr was a quiet beach resort. There were good places to eat, a Fat Face, Spar and a few surfing shops. We ate at the Sandy Mount Hotel which had a great atmosphere and very good food. The locals used it for a drink and a meal.
Everything i experienced at the Valley was positive which is very, very, unusual for anywhere I stay. The room was superb, the bar area, where food was available too, was great. Due to covid there was only table service available but the girls were always available to supply me with a drink as and when I needed one. I sat in the "comfy" chair by the log burner and they even found time to keep that topped up and alight. If I was local to the area and not just a visitor, I'd gladly use the Valley regularly. I walked from the Valley to Holyhead, onto the South Stack lighthouse, and then back through Trearddur beach to the Valley. Roughly, 15 miles. In fairness I'd recommend going the other way around as the scenery, beaches and coves, cafes etc are better and more plentiful. Then if you're not a massive fan of towns like Holyhead, jump on a bus to get back once you get there. Oh, and if you're fascinated by fighter jets, simply look up when you get anywhere near Trearddur beach (which itself is a wonderful place to watch the sun go down) The RAF have a base near and while i was there, they were out practicing through the day.
Would not hesitate on booking this perfect cottage, all details are 100% accurate on booking.com,super comfy beds, perfect living room and a great kitchen, well enclosed garden 2 car drive with on road parking if needed.Perfect location for the beach and raf valley grandson loved waking up to the sound of the planes flying over.
The location was great for day trips out. The road to the house is narrow but very little using it. We managed ok and were so pleased when we arrived as keys in key box and got straight in. The inside is really pretty and there was everything we needed as we were there to see the island so out all day and came back pm and were able to use microwave and fridge handy too. There is a nice shower room and plenty space so we could eat at the table or on our laps. Fridge was ideal as we only had to shop once locally as out enjoying the delights of Angelsey. We were able to get around by car to lots of places. Great stay
we were a booking of 7 adults, plenty of space, wished we had taken more food stuffs for self catering, a local spar available for the basics. We struggled getting a taxi and getting a take away. You just need to be prepared for self catering as you wont want to leave.
We were a part of four with a car, three generations including an eight year old boy. The House we stayed in, ‘Dune Retret’ was perfect with a safe garden space at the back. Rhosneigr has a nice beach with a long shallow drop so safe for kids, paddle board lessons, plenty of cafes, a Spar shop that was open all hours and an air base where we could sit and watch the jets taking off and landing on week days. The Oyster bar, a short walk from the house and Rhosneigr, was a big and lovely place with a huge restaurant/bar but broken up into sections so it didn’t feel too big with a large garden space at the back where all the kids could run and play and large dunes between that and the sea so it was easy and safe to watch them from the deckchairs. Angelsey had plenty to do in a week within a short drive, particularly recommend the Sea life centre, only small but our lad spent hours in there, the Newborough Forest, Puffin island boat trip and on the mainland Canaervon castle and Zipworld.
